I started working on these this evening, I make these every year for New Years Eve gifts, been doing them for at least the past 12 years.

I pass these out to friends when we meet up on new years eve, also pass a couple out to strangers too, I enjoy sharing these. These are great for any age, adults and kids love these!

You can purchase the Chinese food containers new at a local Chinese restaurant, or wash out used ones with warm water & soap and let air dry.(Recycling is great!)

I just print up a logo(you can find these on line) and tape or glue to the front of the box.

I purchase the sealed fortune cookies at a local restaurant(they only charge me 3 cents per cookie. Since they know us I get my containers for free, I usually do at least a dozen. **You can also add confetti in the container along with your cookies for extra pazazz..

If you get contianers that have the handles you can tie on it a party horn etc..

*Our Chinese restaurant gives out free calenders they seal in plastic(see above) My son just picked up a couple today, I will add them with the container gifts, so everyone gets a set.
I take 3 peices of yarn and french braid them.
Cut 2 slits with a knife on each side of container, run yarn through them,make a knot leaving a little of the ends to make cute Chinese tassles.

I recently received a e-mail from Melissa from BuildASign.com, and was offered a chance to get a free product to keep in exchange for doing a review and giveaway.
I chose the window cling(19 1/2 tall by 16 wide $60 value) and was able to custom make the cling with my business logo on it for my car.

I did have a problem making my logo bigger so it would be proportioned correctly when designing the cling. This was my fault as I didn't know how to make the picture bigger and Melissa thankfully came to the rescue and helped me.

The cling arrived in the mail fast, was packaged well and I thought the cling was made very durable. It came with easy to follow instructions on how to apply the cling to the car window. I got excited when I opened the package cylinder and saw that the cling came out exactly as I had wanted it, it was perfect! Thank-you.

Robert and Betty (Bond) Hughes were married Aug. 6, 1960, in Chicago.

They have four daughters, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who all reside in Chicago.

A celebration will take place at a later date.

I made 2 of these and donated them to a gal in one of my groups who needed these. They were really simple and quick to make and I will be making more of these to donate. I used flannel as the outer layer and 2 layers of cotton jersey for the inside so they would be absorbent cloths. These go over Mother's shoulder to keep her clothes clean.

I hosted a bbq party in the backyard on Mother's Day.

Before the party I was racking my brain for a idea for a centerpiece for my table, thought about flowers but they die so quickly and wanted something unique.

So I decided to make these candles I had wax, supplies on hand left from my old biz that I bought at
wholesale price so the candles were cheap for me to make. They looked cute as a centerpiece on my table outdoors. I received many compliments on them, and they gave the backyard a nice "at home" feel.

The tarts on top shaped like flowers are scented in peach, strawberry, raspberry, hopefully when I throw the next bbq party the weather will be warmer and we can sit out in the evening and I can lite the candles which will look so pretty and they will smell great!

Had them ring up each package of pads separate.

Stayfree Maxi pads(16-24 count)-$2.99 get $3 RR back- paid $1.30 per package with the tax.

Used 7 coupons- $2 Stayfree product 3/28 Red plum

Final cost free + $1.70(counting the sales tax) money maker per package.

2nd deal:

Used my credit of $21 credit in RR from the Stayfree pad deal

Bought vo5 shampoo's and conditioners(.79 cents per bottle) rang them up in sets of 4 bottles

For every 4 bottles cost was $3.48 with tax, used 1 $3 RR...Paid 48 cents tax for each set of 4 bottles.

I went to CVS yesterday as I had some ECB bucks ready to expire and wanted to use them up.
Here's what I bought:
7 Johnson's Buddies easy grip sudzing bar-$1.39 each
Used 7- $1 off any Johnson's baby product coupons
$3.50 in ecb bucks.

Drum roll.....final price I paid 18 cents total!

I have more coupons I will use before they expire in May, I love to stock up on these soaps, I use them personally as I have sensitive skin and they are gentle on the skin. I also give some to my niece for her kids they love them! Because these soaps have a netting on them they suds up great and last twice as long as regular soap.

These are also great soaps for the elderly to use or anyone for that matter as they have the netting on them so they don't slip out of your hands, no bending down in the tub picking up soap and possibly slipping in the tub(Did you know most accidents happen in the bathroom).

I also saw on someones blog she uses these as guest soaps as they look fancy with the neon green netting on the soaps and they smell great! She takes the soaps out of the box leaves it sealed in the plastic and puts them in a basket along with the guests bathroom goodies, what a great idea!!

I did curtains for my sons room...found 2 sheets at the resale shop dated from 1992...lol! I made his for a x-mas present. They have a batman & robin print with joker on them...My son is 22 ys old but is a big comic book fan so they look awesome in his room.

The great thing is the price! I spent $4 on 2 sheets that I bought at the resale shop & the curtain rod I picked up at the dollar store for only $3 bucks.

I used 1 queen size flat sheet and cut it in half to make 2 panels.

I kept the top seam in the sheet intact so I could run the curtain rod through it. Just zig zagged the edges of curtain and than made a small hem all the way around.

I made the curtain bigger than the window to create small gathers of fabric across the curtain rod, looks nicer that way than having the fabric smoothed out and tight.

Behind the curtains there is blinds as my son likes his room dark when he sleeps.

I still have a twin size sheet to make his throw pillows out of.

His bed set is blue & purple so thought these curtains would match good in his room.

And yes he loves his curtains! His friends all came over and seen them, and thought they were so cool! , all little boys at heart..lol

When we move if the window happens to be bigger than his window now I will add side panels of a dark purple velvet with yellow tie backs for a richer look and that way curtains can still be used.

This is also a great idea for those who want curtains that match their bed set....it is hard to find the exact color or print to match your bed set but if you buy a flat sheet that matches your bed set you can create matching curtains, for a great look!

These were a custom order for a client. They both have a lining in them, with the back pockets taken off a pair of blue jeans sewn on the front. Both have a zipper closure . I made matching coin purses for them too! They measure 8 x 8.

Ran errands today and stopped at my local dollar store and browsed around.
I picked up 2 baby toys Sesame Street Elmo tummy pal(rattle & teething ring in one)paid $2.49
Gerber little clutch rattle(paid $1) to donate to a grandma on Wish Upon a Hero - I wish toys for baby , that is raising her 7 month old grand baby. I also found those wonderful soft and warm fuzzy socks for $1 a pair(Kmart sells these for $4.99 a pair). They are nice and thick material and don't have any defects that I see.

Here's pictures of my finds and check out the tags on the socks ..lol!! Too funny the factory accidentally put "Men's Socks" tags on Woman's fuzzy socks, this made me chuckle, I needed a laugh today..too funny!!

LOS ANGELES – Once in a blue moon there is one on New Year's Eve. Revelers ringing in 2010 will be treated to a so-called blue moon. According to popular definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a month. But don't expect it to be blue — the name has nothing to do with the color of our closest celestial neighbor.

A full moon occurred on Dec. 2. It will appear again on Thursday in time for the New Year's countdown.

"If you're in Times Square, you'll see the full moon right above you. It's going to be that brilliant," said Jack Horkheimer, director emeritus of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium and host of a weekly astronomy TV show.

The New Year's Eve blue moon will be visible in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. For partygoers in Australia and Asia, the full moon does not show up until New Year's Day, making January a blue moon month for them.

However, the Eastern Hemisphere can celebrate with a partial lunar eclipse on New Year's Eve when part of the moon enters the Earth's shadow. The eclipse will not be visible in the Americas.

A full moon occurs every 29.5 days, and most years have 12. On average, an extra full moon in a month — a blue moon — occurs every 2.5 years. The last time there was a lunar double take was in May 2007. New Year's Eve blue moons are rarer, occurring every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won't come again until 2028.

Blue moons have no astronomical significance, said Greg Laughlin, an astronomer at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

"`Blue moon' is just a name in the same sense as a `hunter's moon' or a `harvest moon,'" Laughlin said in an e-mail.

The popular definition of blue moon came about after a writer for Sky & Telescope magazine in 1946 misinterpreted the Maine Farmer's Almanac and labeled a blue moon as the second full moon in a month. In fact, the almanac defined a blue moon as the third full moon in a season with four full moons, not the usual three.

Though Sky & Telescope corrected the error decades later, the definition caught on. For purists, however, this New Year's Eve full moon doesn't even qualify as a blue moon. It's just the first full moon of the winter season.

In a tongue-in-cheek essay posted on the magazine's Web site this week, senior contributing editor Kelly Beatty wrote: "If skies are clear when I'm out celebrating, I'll take a peek at that brilliant orb as it rises over the Boston skyline to see if it's an icy shade of blue. Or maybe I'll just howl."

I made up these 12 mini totes for a client who wanted these to hold goodies instead of using stockings or Ziploc bags for Christmas for her family. Most of the totes are 8 1/2" wide by 8" tall, and some are a little bigger according to the print. They all have zippered closures, and the the ones with the square print on the front are pockets to hold extra goodies in and 2 of the totes the print was appliqued on. The great thing is they can be used all year around and are washable. I enjoyed making these and look forward to making more for you Liz in the future!

Thomas the train custom ordered t-shirts

From time to time I have people contact me and ask if I can make something that is not offered on my web site. It's usually items people cannot find on line or in stores and want something unique.

A customer contacted me she wanted 2 t-shirts done for her twin boys with a big Thomas the train print on the front of t-shirts for x-mas presents for them(they are huge Thomas fans). She doesn't dress them the same so I made them up in different colors. I was able to do her "special custom order request" Thomas the train applique sewn on the front on size 5 t-shirts. I think they came out really cute and hope she likes them as much as I did making them for her.

Cloth vacuum bag

I have a big bulky hoover and the bags for it are expensive as heck they cost around $7 for 3 allergen filter bags, down to my last paper filter bag, and just really don't feel like having to spend money on something that is tossed out in the garbage. I took measurements of the filled bag.

I suffer from insomnia so I am always up till the wee hours of the morning and always working on a project, crazy sleeping hours. I stayed up till 6 in the morning and got my first cloth vacuum bag completed. Vacuumed the whole house today with it, and took pictures, Woo-hoo!!!The best part, it keeps the dust contained in the bag!

Bf & Robert are use to me always coming up with something..lol! They think this great I came up with this as no more spending money on paper vacuum bags. They were shocked when I said I have been pondering it for a year, as I usually dive in right away on making something when an idea pops in my head. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Here's how I did mine:
I went with using Gortex~ which is a thin material, but very durable(they use it for outdoor clothing)light but also waterproof & breathable. It has a slick side(waterproof) so easy to wash clean, dust will just slide off when rinsed and dries fast.

For the hole in the bag, I used a plastic coffee lid to cut the square piece used a glue stick to hold plastic piece in place while sewing it on the bag. It fits on the inside hose nice and tight and is easy to attach the bag and take off.

Then I sewed a zipper in the front so the bag can be emptied out.

When sewing the 2 pieces of fabric together I used paper clips to hold it, eliminates extra holes in the bag, keeping the dust particles in the bag better.

Sewed the top of bag shut, and rolled the bottom on the bag twice and then sewed shut.

Bag measures 9 1/2" wide by 16 1/2" tall.

Today's my B-Day!

I spent this past weekend celebrating with friends and family.
Today I received in the mail from my friend Carol on R.S. a bread maker. Thank-you Carol soo much for sending me this! Perfect timing on getting the bread maker for my b-day and Pre-Xmas gift as well.
My son Robert and I went up to Jewel after the bread maker was delivered and he bought me bread making ingredients so I could use the machine.
I made a 2 Lb loaf of Italian herb & onion bread. Yum!!

London's pj set

I sewed up a pajama set in flannel with a holiday print of penguins for my great niece London.

She is so petite for being 3 yrs old. I made pj's in a size 2 and it is big on her, I was gonna bring it back home and take up the sleeves and pants, but she told me as soon as I put the pj's on her "I love this"!! Too cute! So figure she will grow into it eventually.

I recently spoke with my friend Liz who sells Tupperware and checked out her web site. I wanted to view what new items they have and was excited to see such innovative products Tupperware sells! Many of us know the brand Tupperware well, we grew up with it in our household. I remember my mother having cupboards of Tupperware for everyday use and for special occasions and many of my family members had Tupperware as well in their household.

Cook Time: 5 min Level: Easy Yield: 32 servings (2 pounds)

Ingredients

1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate morsels
9 ounces (3/4 of a 12-ounce bag) butterscotch morsels
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (8-ounce) can walnut halves
1/2 cup (a couple of handfuls) currants
8-inch cake pan, lightly greased with softened butter
Candied cherries, red and green, for garnish, optional

Directions

Place a heavy pot on the stove and preheat it over low heat. Add chips and milk and stir until chips are melted and milk combined. Save the empty condensed milk can. Stir in vanilla and remove fudge from heat. Add nuts and currants and stir in immediately.

Cover empty condensed milk can with plastic food wrap and center it in the greased cake pan. Spoon fudge into pan around can, making sure to recenter can if it drifts.

The fudge will set up almost immediately. Garnish can only be added in the first minute or 2 the fudge is in the pan, so work quickly. Decorate your wreath with "holly" made from cut candied red and green cherries. A wreath left plain can be garnished with a pretty fabric bow when serving. Chill covered in the refrigerator and slice fudge very thin when ready to serve, a little goes a long way.

Hand made~ Kids Cloth Art Totes

Well this is the time of year I start making and selling my Kids Cloth Art Totes to the lovely ladies on my refunding board. I don't sell these year around on my boutique just offer these for the holidays. I am working on a order for a customer, will post pictures of them as I get them completed.

These totes are perfect for kids to store their coloring books and art projects in. They have a zippered pocket in the front to hold, glue sticks, crayons, scissors etc. Moms love these as they can take them with when on the go, great for the in the car, while sitting in a restaurant or doctors office or anywhere where little hands need to keep busy.

Calculating the Cost of Cloth vs. Disposable

Since I am in the cloth diaper business I get asked this question a lot by moms thought I'd post this info here. Not only do cloth diapers save you money they are Eco-friendly and comfy for babies to wear...can you imagine wearing paper underwear all day, how uncomfortable would that be?

Cloth diapers have come a long way they started when my son was born(22 years ago) making them fitted, look just like pampers but are cloth and have elastic in the waist and legs and no pins, held together with snaps or touch tape(high grade of Velcro). I make fitted cloth diapers trim so they fit over baby's clothing perfect, not bunchy and no need to buy bigger size clothing to accommodate the cloth diaper.

If moms use cloth diapers they can go from newborn to age 3 years old and total cost would be around $300. Many moms choose cloth if they plan on having more than one child, makes diapers for the 2ND baby free and diapers can be used for several children. There are even boards where moms buy used cloth diapers and pay half the value of each diaper, so it is a win, win situation.

How to preserve your sewing patterns

With all my sewing patterns, especially patterns for clothing I never cut the patterns out from the manufacturer as I might want to do a different size or style in the future so I keep them all intact. I use tracing paper to trace the originals and have also used tissue paper which is even cheaper in price and works just as well.

I keep them stored in Ziploc bags or small envelopes clearly marked. For patterns I use on a regular basis for my business I buy the big poster boards and trace the patterns out on them which keeps the patterns very sturdy and easy to trace on to my fabric.

Today, was my "me" day, spent the day watching the sci-fi channel and sewing to my hearts content.

Made myself a pair of pajama shorts out of cotton jersey.

Whipped up a pair of training pants to donate to a mom in need, I think they came out really cute and hope that she likes them.

The outer print is a soft stretch cotton jersey.

Inside layer(red) is fleece makes them waterproof.
Then I sewed a soaker pad in to make it absorbent.

This Meal Pops in the Freezer and Keeps Fresh for More Than Three Months.

From the kitchen of Sheral Wilson

Servings: Over 8
Difficulty: Moderate
Cook Time: 30-60 min

Sheral Wilson and other community members pitched in to make dishes that can be easily frozen. The community brought the meals to a family of child who was a very ill.

This light fluffy egg casserole, sprinkled with tasty bacon, retains its fresh flavor after freezing. While it's great for breakfast, it's an easy-to-reheat meal for lunch or dinner, too. The recipe makes two casseroles, so you can serve one right away and freeze the second one for later.

Breakfast Bake appears in the "The Taste of Home Cookbook: Cooks Who Care Edition."
Ingredients
# 4-1/2 cups seasoned croutons
# 2 cups (8 ounces) cheddar cheese, shredded
# 1 medium onion, chopped
# 1/4 cup sweet red pepper, chopped
# 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
# 1 jar (4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
# 8 eggs
# 4 cups milk
# 1 teaspoon salt
# 1 teaspoon mustard, ground
# 1/8 teaspoon pepper
# 8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Cooking Directions

Sprinkle croutons, cheese, onion, peppers and mushrooms into two greased 8-in. square baking dishes.

In a bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, mustard and pepper.

Slowly pour over vegetables.

Sprinkle with bacon.

Cover and freeze one casserole for up to 3 months.

Bake the second casserole, uncovered, at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

To use frozen casserole:

Completely thaw in the refrigerator for 24-36 hours.

Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.

Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 50-60 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Yield: 2 casseroles (6-8 servings each).

Set up:

Mango peeled and diced in a big bowl kept on top shelf in the fridge so easy to get to. coffee-mate products placed in a big ice bucket right next to my coffee-maker, blender.

Printed up the recipes and placed them in inexpensive stand up picture frames so guests could view the recipes and make their own drinks as needed. They also got to see how fast and easy they are to make up.

Hand Made Baby Wipes

Moms who cloth diaper like to use cloth baby wipes and makes sense to use them as they just toss the used one's in with dirty diapers and wash. Good for the environment and also saves you money.

Here's 2 types, one is Eco-friendly and one is not. Figured I'd post 2 as not everyone uses cloth diapers or perhaps some people do not have a washing machine in their home which makes it convenient to wash the cloth kind.

Wipe Solution Recipe:
1/8-1/4 cup baby shampoo
1/8- 1/4 cup baby oil
2 cups lukewarm water
Mix liquid ingredients in a bowl.

How to make cloth wipes:
I make my cloth baby wipes using cotton prints, flannel, cotton jersey, fleece.
Sew 2 pieces together using a 5/8 seam allowance
Leave a opening so you can turn and top stitch the opening closed.
My cloth wipes measure approx 7 1/2" tall by 6" wide.

Cloth Baby Wipes:
Fold cloth wipes in a Baby Wipe Container.
Pour mixed ingredients on top of cloth wipes covering them with the liquid thoroughly.
Place on lid, all set to use
**Some moms prefer to pour the solution in a spray bottle and spray the dry cloth wipes when doing a diaper change.

Disposable Baby Wipes:
Take a roll of paper towels cut it in half so you have two short rolls
Remove the cardboard center.
Place a short roll in an airtight, water-proof container (round baby wipe container or any plastic container that seals tight)
Pour the solution over the towels.
Put the lid back on the box and turn it upside down so the solution is absorbed.
Blue shop towels have been recommended by mothers for this.

Both types of wipes make great gifts for a baby shower, include the recipe for the solution taped to the baby wipe container.

These also are nice to give to food pantry's, shelters wherever moms in need could really benefit from these(I struggled when my son was little and would have loved if someone had given me these, would have truly felt special) I am a firm believer in giving and helping people. I include a free hand made cloth baby wipe with each of my diaper orders, with a recipe on how to make the wipe solution to go with them.

We keep a container of disposable wipes in the car and on the motorcycle they are great for road trips and when your eating on the go. Quick clean up for hands and faces that's gentle on the skin.

Pick your own pine cones

This is the perfect time to head out and pick pine cones and get a jump start on holiday craft projects. I spent the weekend visiting my parents and their neighbor has a big beautiful tree, she allowed us to go in her backyard and pick pine cones. I washed them up today and have them drying on a screen.

They sell pine cones in craft stores for about $5-$6 a bag so I saved some money by picking them and cleaning them myself. I cannot wait to make some cool items out of them. I plan on doing some wreaths, add some to baskets, endless ideas for them. Will post pictures at a later time when I've completed my projects.

** There are 2 methods you can do bake them or wash them.
I washed mine in the kitchen sink 3 times in very warm water and laundry detergent. Let them soak each time for 20 minutes, drained the sink and filled it up with soap and water again. Rinse well when they are no longer sticky. Washing them gets rid of all the sap, small bugs and dirt. The pine cones petals will close up, but they will open again as they dry.

The bake method I didn't do as there is a chance of starting a fire in your oven and you really need to watch closely and stay in the kitchen.

Album Review Harry Connick Jr-Your Songs

I received in the mail this week, a music CD of Harry Jr performing classic hit songs. I really kept a open mind and listened to the whole CD. He has a good voice but found his singing style bland, his vocal range never changes through out the whole CD and felt his songs lack emotion there's no feelings put into the songs, like he's holding back. On a scale of 1-10 I rate this music CD a 5.

Oh, my this is one of my all time favorite cakes. If I could just bake this up and serve for dinner once a week I'd be a happy camper. Lol! Thought I'd share the recipe with you all it will be your favorite too!! Yum!!

2 cups sifted flour
1 cup chopped nuts(any) I use walnuts
2 tsp baking soda
2 cups sugar white or brown
2 eggs
1 large can of crushed pineapple juice and all

Preheat oven 350

Mix all ingredients together, pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan
Bake until a golden brown about 30-35 minutes.

FROSTING:
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 stick of butter or margarine
2 cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients in bowl until mixed well.

Frost while cake is slightly warm.
Refrigerate when cake is cool, it freezes well too!

Just started getting slammed yesterday with 2 big custom diaper orders, business has been slow since the recession hit, and I am grateful for the sales. I have been praying for some sales to pick up and now it is happening. I will not be able to post on here as much as I like till I get these orders completed, and I have 20 diapers to hand make...oh, my!

Peanut Butter Cookies

This is one of my all time favorite cookie recipes they are fast and simple to make. I make these up for the holidays to take to parties, they are a big hit. Also this recipe is kid friendly and they enjoy making these cookies as well, they are fun!

What You'll Need:
1 cup peanut butter smooth or chunky
1 cup sugar
1 egg

Heat Oven to 375F. Stir together the peanut butter, sugar and egg in a large mixing bowl.

Roll dough into 1- inch balls. Put some sugar on a plate and roll balls in it to coat. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Press each ball down with a fork to make a crisscross design. Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies just start to brown on the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool on wire racks.

**I also like to make these with thumb prints in them and fill them with peanut butter once cooled. Can also use colored sugar in red, green etc to go with the holidays.

Leftover Rice - Rice Pudding

We eat a lot of rice in our house at least 3 times a week. Perhaps you family is like mine and always has leftover rice in the refrigerator which after a couple days starts to get dried out and doesn't taste good. I hate wasting food and throwing out, so here is a recipe I use. It is simple, quick and makes a great dessert.

Recipe:
2 cups leftover cooked white rice
3 cups milk(any kind)
1/2 cup sugar
small pinch of salt
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon(optional)
pinch of nutmeg(optional)

Combine cooked rice, milk sugar and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer and stir in the vanilla and raisins. Cook until just about all of the milk is absorbed(30-45 minutes,depending on how absorbent your rice is). Stir in cinnamon and/or nutmeg, if using.

Divide rice pudding into individual serving dishes serve warm or chilled.

Makes 4-6 servings.

* Note: Sometimes I add a extra 1/2 cup of milk, if the rice seems unusually form or dry, to make it creamier. You can add a bit of extra if the pudding is not as creamy as you like it. You can use nonfat, whole or soy milk in this recipe.

Dust Jacket Clutch Purses

I turned these book dust jackets into clutch purses. I used card stock and covered the outside with a thick clear vinyl to make them durable and easy to wipe clean. I sewed a zipper in one of the purses and the other 2 have a touch tape(Velcro) closure.These are perfect size for a night out on the town when you only need to carry a couple items, and go with any outfit your wearing.

I recently got to try Yoplait Fiber One Yogurt. I tried the strawberry flavor and enjoyed them. They were very smooth tasting and delicious and could not taste the fiber and no aftertaste. These yogurts are perfect for anyone whether your watching your weight or needing more fiber in their diet. These would also be great added to a blended fruit smoothie for not only extra calcium, but fiber as well for those who don't really care for yogurt.

Bath time for Shar, she is too cute my baby girl! She is easy to bathe she stands still and lets me wash her but all the same doesn't like it too much. I had to take a photo and share she is sulking that I gave her a bath.

She is wearing a T-shirt gown I made for her years ago and I always put that on her after bath time. It keeps her nice and warm until her fur dries.

I started January 1st 2009 working on items for next years secret santa for the kiddos, and have a goal to make at least 1 item a month to go to that cause. I will post pic's here of items as I get them completed. I have big box set aside waiting to be filled up with hand crafted items, that is a great motivator for me to see how full I can pack that box with goodies! Everything you see here are my original designs and creations, I really enjoy creating unique items.

"On the go" totes:Made these cuties by recycling 2 liter pop bottles. They have crochet drawstring tops with handles. The front pocket holds a finger puppet. I named these "on the go" as they can be filled with small toys and books and left in the car to keep children busy while traveling on the road.

How many times us parents have forgotten to pack a bag or left it at home only to realize once on the road it was forgotten at home. Then from the car these can be used at grandparents house or friends while visiting, keeps children from getting bored.** thought these would also make great baby shower gifts filled with stuff for baby..** figured they would also make a great wine bottle tote(would use yarn colors for adults) for a housewarming party.

Crochet containers:These are made using recycled vo5 shampoo bottles. I crochet the tops and they have a drawstring closure. Perfect size to hold crayons in, and for young teen girls this item can hold several tampons/ pads discreetly.

I made my Lil dog Shar a couple diapers today with a hole in the back for her tail.

I notice now that she is 12 years old, when she is sick or has bouts of arthritis, she pees in her bed only at night when she's sleeping. It could be also that I got her spayed years ago which the vet said may cause incontinence now that she is getting older. They are too cute they fit her perfect!

Dot's Brittle Kitchen is a store that makes and sells homemade premium brittle candies, they use only fresh ingredients, no preservatives and is made fresh to order. I was instantly intrigued by her unique candies when I viewed her store.

I recently got to chat with Dorothy the owner behind this unique store. She was friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic about her products, which I really liked. She sent me 5 snack bags for me to try so I could experience her wonderful products.

Here's the flavors I received:

Supreme Brittle

I have to say I was very impressed with all the products she sent me. First of all the items are shipped in a nice box with bubble wrap to keep the candy in great condition. The brittle comes packaged in heavy duty thick grip and tear strip type bags and also have a Ziploc on them. The bags were easy to tear open by hand and then conveniently Ziploc shut to keep the brittle candies fresh, how neat is that! I also liked the labels she had on each snack bag, very attractive with her business information as well as the flavor of candy clearly marked. The bags and candies look so well put together so professional and truly a gourmet product and look.

Okay, now on to tasting the candy. Honestly I could not pick one flavor over another I liked better, they are all delectable and enjoyed them all. Her brittle candies are very light in texture, have a wonderful buttery rich flavor and blending of ingredients like I have never experienced before.

Here's some more things I noticed that make her's so different from any brittle candy I have ever bought in the past. Her brittle is not very sticky when you handle it and touch it with your fingers; no sticky messy fingers. You will also notice when eating her brittle, very little gets stuck in your teeth. I had 2 small spots where candy stuck in my teeth, I waited a minute and it dissolved completely out of the spots where it was stuck. Tell me what other kind of brittle does that? Her brittle candies actually break apart with your fingers, just as easily with your teeth, which I found amazing. Her candies are enjoyable to eat and don't hurt your teeth!

About her prices: I think for the quality of her products her prices are very reasonable and fair. She offers a variety of brittle candies and products range from snack bags to one pound tins, which makes her products affordable for everyone. I am looking forward to purchasing her products in the future as her brittle is perfect for any occasion and would make great gifts. I know people would love her brittle as much as I do. She also offers sugar free brittle for those who can't have sugar so anyone can enjoy her products!

This doll blanket was easy and quick to complete. I go through my bags of fabric scraps and cut them into squares on the weekends. I keep the fabric squares in a Ziploc bag so they are all ready to use for a project. I just piece together the squares and sew. For the backing on this doll blanket I used a light cotton that is a blue jean color.

This is a great way to use your scraps of fabric as well as pieces of blue jean material which I Incorporated into this doll blanket. You can whip these up in one afternoon.

You can also use the squares to make pillows, tote bags, place mats all kinds of fun things!

My favorite Small Kitchen Appliances

These are my favorite small kitchen appliances that are a "must have" in my home. I work out of my home and these appliances really save me time, and some of them even save me money.

On the top of my list is my Ronco Showtime Rotisserie and BBQ

I use this all year around for my meat eaters here, I use it to cook chicken, pork, can even do a turkey in it. It comes with a wire rack for cooking fish or shrimp. This item is especially nice to have in the summer months when I don't want to heat up the kitchen. I save money by not having to buy rotisserie chicken as I can do it myself and often find chicken on sale here cheap. I also like that it has a built in timer so I can go about my work and don't have to worry about checking on the food and timer will "ding" when food is done.

Rice Cooker
Perfectly cooked rice every time. Once rice is cooked it automatically switches over to "warm" so it keeps the rice nice and hot.

Rival Crock Pot
I use this for soups, stews, pot roast. I put the setting on low when I am out and about running errands and when I get home dinner is done. Great to use in the summer time too.

Donvier Yogurt Maker:

I save money by making my own fresh yogurt. I've had this machine for about 13 years now and still works like new. Makes over 1 quart of yogurt and can make 7 different flavors at one time. What I also like about this yogurt maker is it comes with 7 glass jars with tight fitting plastic lids, so they can go from the yogurt maker to the fridge and we just grab a jar from the fridge and eat. I make flavored yogurts in apple, strawberry, orange etc. I have also used the plain yogurt in place of sour cream for mashed potatoes, baked potatoes and dips, it tastes wonderful!

If your looking for a great summer read you must check out this book series. If you knit or crochet you will really enjoy these books, as we share one thing in common we get excited over yarn and what we can make out of it.

Each book in the series starts out with a knitting pattern, so that you can create the same item as in the story that follows in the book, I think that concept is neat even though I don't knit but do crochet.

Debbie Macomber understands exactly how women think and feel, and the characters she creates might remind us of people we know or of our self and what struggles we have faced in the past or are currently in everyday life.

Just thought I'd share a idea, since we all need to save money these days.
For the past 4 years in my apartment building we have been swapping out our items. Not everyone participates and jumps on board, but the few of us that do, this works out great! It saves us all money by getting items we can use or need. We also save the landfill by not throwing stuff out, it all gets recycled.

What we do is when we want to get rid of things we no longer need like, books, gently used kids and adult clothes, we gather them all up. We put the items in boxes, mark them "free' and place them in our laundry room for anyone free to take, a spin off kinda like free cycle but the great thing is that people can take things and they don't have to ask or tell anyone and we don't know who took the items but we know they helped someone. I've left all kinds of things over the years from coolers to holiday decorations, and clothes. Someone can always use it and stuff is usually gone within a couple of days.

Sometimes months go by before anyone puts stuff out, but I have gotten some great items recently for free. I picked out 2 pairs of gently used women's jeans for myself, and 6 interesting books to read. Uncanny but one of the books "A Good Yarn" I had wanted to buy the book this past weekend online at my favorite book store but they didn't have any in stock, and now I have it and saved myself a couple bucks no need to purchase the book now.

Hoping that I can inspire others to swap their items out as well, you can do this with friends, family, or like me do it with other tenants in your building.

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Cinde, the creator and owner of We Craft For You. I thought what a wonderful concept she has! How many of us have photo's thrown in a box or tucked away in a drawer? Seems like such a waste that our wonderful photo's are hidden from view. Some of us just don't have the time to organize photo's and for those who do find time to do scrap booking or photo albums are your photos really protected enough?

It got me thinking about the few old photo albums I do have lying around that are filled with pictures of me and my family when I was growing up, and baby pictures of my son. What if there was a fire or flood, my photo's would be gone forever and could not be replaced. I should back up some photos on DVDs and store them either in my firesafe box or in a safety deposit box so if that "what if" day ever comes at least I will be spared the heartache of losing my photos.

Photos are a timeline of our life, while viewing them they bring back memories, we share stories, we smile and laugh. They are priceless. We Craft For You DVDs would make a great gift for yourself, as well as a cherished gift for others.

My favorite sewing tip~Make your own patterns

When clothing gets worn out and can't be worn anymore. I cut them and use them as patterns to make myself new clothes. My favorite clothing of choice to wear/make is scrub pants, since I work from home they are comfy to wear during the day and also make great pj's for night time use. Making scrub pants myself is not only way cheaper than buying, but I can choose the material and print I want to use, making them custom made just for me. Which I find fun!

Here is why I use worn out clothing as patterns:
Saves me time as I don't have to do any hunting for just the right pattern.
I save money no need to buy patterns.
I know the items I make will fit me perfectly in length and fit as I am using the original item as a pattern to make a new one. No alterations needed. Big time saver!
I do this with scrub pants, skirts and shirts the most.

I store my cloth patterns in Ziploc bags that are clearly labeled so I can use them again for future use. I store them safely in my sewing cabinet. This prevents them from accidentally being used as cleaning rags by me or other members of my family.

Cloth book holders

I just started making up this month cloth book covers for my hardcover books and then decided to put a twist on this and to also make up some cloth book holders to hold my paperback books when I am on the go, keeps them nice and clean, and keeps the covers/backs of paperback books from getting bent up while traveling with them.

Each book holder has 2 pockets sewn in so it can hold 2 paperback books and has a nice cloth tie to hold it closed.

*These are great to use while traveling on vacations, just toss in your tote or suitcase.

*Also they make great gifts, if you give paperback books as presents, these are a great presentation to add to the books, no wrapping paper needed, just put books in holder and tie, shut...add a bow on top with ribbon and good to go

* For those who commute on public transportation often, these are perfect!

I had to run some errands this morning and stopped off at a small book store to browse. Well I found 2 books by authors I never read and decided what the heck why not give them a shot? Both of them sounded interesting.

Well, I ended up picking up 4 books, 2 copy's of each book. lol!. Figured a copy of each book for me to read and thought it would be nice to giveaway the other 2 books. I have my 2 copy's sitting on my dresser all set in place for reading. I will probably give away my 2 copy's after I read them, so if you see the same books offered in future giveaways you know why, duplicate copy's I own of the same book.

Who doesn't love the feel and smell of a new book? I love how when you open them you hear a small crackle, and that new book smell. Soooo...........the other 2 books, I have them stored in a Ziploc bag to keep them clean and dust free put aside to be given away right here on my blog. woo-hoo!!
